Fortune Cookie

As I unwrapped a fortune cookie today - leftover from yesterday's Chinese take-out - I thought to myself, "I hope it says 'You Will Find Out You Are Pregnant Very Soon'." And then I laughed, because my fortune cookies usually say "Wisdom Is In Soul" or something REALLY non-specific like that.

And then I pulled my fortune out and it said:

"Good news of a long-awaited event will arrive soon."

And my eyes welled up with tears.

Please let it be the news I hope it is.

I'm 8dpiui ... hopeful, nervous & scared.

I got a fortune cookie before my bfp that said "If you want the rainbow, you have to live through the rain". A month later, I was pregnant. It can happen. Hold on to hope :). Best Wishes for your beta.

what does in mean when you have one allele of MTHFR and one allele of factor V?

ONE OUT OF SIX said...

ritzertbaby - it means you are heterozygous for MTHFR and heterozygous for Factor V. Many, many women are hetero for MTHFR - and don't have any problems. Your doctor would likely suggest supplementing with extra folic acid (like, a LOT extra - up to 4 grams a day.) Being hetero for Factor V makes things a little trickier. Like MTHFR - being hetero for Factor V doesn't cause some any problems - but for others - it causes big problems. Treatment often includes baby aspirin and an injectable blood thinner drug called Lovenox during pregnancy. Some doctors take more of a wait and approach .. you have to do a lot of your own research .. and really become a partner in your treatment.

It's certainly not a disaster - it just means you may need treatment - and extra monitoring - during pregnancy. Hope that helps!

Thank you. That does help. I have had three miscarragies and I have been reading your posts (btw- you are very funny)I have learned more from your page than all the research I have done online. My Ob doc doesnt think its anything to worry about and the genetic counselor really just said to take 2 over the counter folic acids per day and one baby asprin. so I dont know where to go from there.

I found your blog through the nest and I got pulled in to reading about your journey. I'm on my 4th round of injectables/IUI and I had my IUI on the Saturday before you had yours. I had TONS of cramping and lots of bloating after my IUI which was really different from past experiences. I'm definitely going to keep following your blog so I can read about your BFP. :)

I thought of you today when I got my fortune cookie after lunch. But then, the restaurant started playing THAT Smith's song. It was so weird. What are the odds you'd hear anyone playing that song? I think it's auspicious for you. Hope all is well.
